We are looking for a VP People for Babbel in Berlin!

Your mission as a VP People will be to help bringing the Babbel Team to the next level. Drive culture- and organisational development. You direct and oversee the company’s HR plans in ways that support our mission and overall strategy.

You will

• Scale the organization up to 1000 people and beyond
• Solidify our culture of participation and diversity while ensuring execution efficacy
• Lead the People Operations, L&D and Recruitment function
• Coach & develop each direct reports (each leading teams of their own)
• Evolve the goal oriented performance & development system
• Be the champion for our organisational development & implement initiatives
• Further evolution of our compensation & benefits scheme
• Ensure that HR processes are designed and executed flawlessly
• Challenge our culture & organisation and be a part shaping it
• Participate in leadership initiatives and act as a trusted partner for all departments
• Ensure that a successful talent acquisition strategy across Babbel is in place
• Reporting directly to the CEO

You have

• 8+ years of experience in leading high-performance HR teams focused on the organization’s evolving needs and leading an organization through change
• Proven track record in building and scaling companies from 500 to 1000 people and beyond
• Experience with agile culture and participatory management
• Strategic mind with deep skills in organizational development and design
• You have lead managers before and directly managed teams of 20+ people
• Positive problem solver with outstanding communication skills
• Full fluency in spoken and written English. Language learning passion is a plus
• Excellent interpersonal & leadership skills and strategic thinking
• An open-minded, positive, enthusiastic, inspiring, result-oriented person with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Coaching skills are a plus
• Team player with an start-up attitude, hands-on mentality, high motivation and willingness to learn

We are looking for a Country Manager UK/Nordics for our office in Berlin!

Your mission as a Country Manager UK/Nordics will be to grow Babbel’s footprint in the UK, Ireland and the Nordics (including Greenland). You will be helping all language learners from Brighton to Spitsbergen learn foreign languages.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Define the growth strategy and associated marketing plan for Babbel’s UK/Nordics region.
• Provide local consumer insights to inform marketing plan & investment decisions
• Lead & develop the UK/Nordics geo team made up of 6-8 channel managers.
• Manage the P&L of the region, including steering the development of revenue, subscription base, brand awareness and all localization efforts in order to maximize advertising efficiency.
• Distribute & approve the marketing budget per channel to optimize user acquisition and retention.
• Lead or sponsor UK/Nordics-specific multi-channel communication campaigns.
• Coach channel managers on the execution of all marketing plans locally.
• Coordinate and share knowledge with fellow Country Managers.
• Support channel leads on hiring decisions for the UK/Nordics region.
• Reporting directly to the Director of International Growth.

REQUIREMENTS

• 5+ years of experience in (online) marketing, user acquisition, consulting and/or business development with strong international exposure.
• Full fluency in all aspects of spoken & written English is a must, with additional Nordic languages as a plus.
• Resided in the UK for extended time, with a strong understanding of the local culture, language and business norms.
• Superior quantitative skills combined with strong financial & marketing planning capabilities.
• Comprehensive understanding of the current trends & technologies in online marketing is a plus.
• Team player with an entrepreneurial start-up attitude, hands-on mentality, high motivation and willingness to learn.
• Willingness to travel on a monthly basis on short business trips.
• Previous experience with an online and/or subscription business model is a plus.
• Previous leadership experience is a plus.
